An exciting day trip taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in Lower Silesia. The combination of the beautiful Karkonosze (in the past also known as Giant Mountains) and Rudawy Janowickie Mountains with fascinating Valley of Gardens and Palaces of Jelenia Gora has created unique cultural scenery of the region. Here, you will find: medieval castles and fortifications, Renaissance manors, Baroque palaces and unique 19th century mansions. Often, the magnificent buildings are accompanied by sophisticated gardens and scenic parks - everything situated in the foot of the biggest mountain range in the Sudetes. A scenic route will take us from Wrocław across the pictures valley to the extraordinary 14th century Siedlecin Tower house. There, we will admire one of the most outstanding examples of medieval art in the European scale – 14th century polychromes portraying the scenes from the Arthurian legends about sir Lancelot, one of Knights of the Round Table. We will also have a notion of how the medieval knights use to live.

The next stop is a late baroque palace in Staniszow. A historical character of the interior will let you transfer into the incredible ambience of the former aristocratic residence. We will have a chance to sample the original herbal liqueur “Echter Stonsdorfer” whose history commences in this village. Our tour then takes us to Karpacz, one of the most popular mountain resorts situated directly at the foot of the Karkonosze range. We will visit the town's most famous attraction, Vang stave church. The church is considered to be the oldest wooden church in Poland. It is a unique relict of Nordic Romanesque architecture dating back to the 12th century, originally built in Norway and moved to Silesia by a Prussian king in 19th century. On the way back we will explore the Castle and Manor of Lomnitz, situated in the heart of the Palace and Garden Valley. Up to 1945 the property belonged to the von Küster family, than the Polish state became the new owner. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, the family was able to purchase the Great Castle back, which had fallen into ruins and was slowly brought to its old glamour. In the neighborhood we will see beautifully renovated facilities of the former farm house, where you will find a shop with the regional product, bakery store, that offers local specialties, old granary converted into a museum showing the life on the farms over the centuries and a special flax shop, that refers to the traditions of textile production in Lower Silesia.
